Police in Sacramento, California, arrested two men on Friday who used Periscope to show themselves hunt for another man by lurking outside an apartment with a gun.
Viewers watched on the video-streaming app and encouraged men identified by cops as Damon Batson, 28, and Carlos Gonzalez, 25, as they drove around for an hour discussing how they planned to confront a man they thought might be with one of their girlfriends, according to CBS Sacramento.
During the social media broadcast on Thursday, one of the suspects fired a gun from a moving vehicle to demonstrate to their audience that it was real. According to KCRA, Gonzalez pulled the trigger. The two also smoked marijuana and displayed pot plants.
At one point, they arrive at a home where they believe they might find the man they're searching for. No one answers the front door where Batson and Gonzalez wait with the firearm pointed at the entrance. One of them climbs on a ledge to peer into the apartment.
Gonzalez and Batson were arrested early Friday. Cops said they found a gun in Batson's car that matched the one seen in the video, according to Fox 40. Authorities charged him with a weapons violation and possession of a cultivated substance while armed with a loaded firearm, the station said. Gonzalez got picked up for alleged negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of a loaded gun in public.
