Yes, it's a gazillion degrees outside right now. We asked Tracy Murphy, the longtime makeup artist for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, to give us her best tips for coping with humidity, scorching temperatures and sweaty situations (without looking like a melted Mr. Softee cone).

When I'm doing a shoot on a hot, muggy beach, I fan the model with an old-fashioned paper fan and spritz her face with chilled Evian every few minutes. Obviously, we can't all have a makeup artist following us around, but there are ways to avoid becoming an overheated mess.

Cover with a light touch. I apply a tinted moisturizer with SPF and a generous layer of waterproof concealer (like LancĂ´me Effacernes) under the eyes and pat, pat, pat to blend. Then I take a tissue without fragrance or lotion, pull it apart so it's only one-ply, and press it on top. Taking out the moisture makes everything last longer.

Soak up sweat. If you get shiny, dab your face in the daintiest way possible with blotting papers (I like the Shiseido and Clean & Clear ones).

Stop the stickiness. Spray dry shampoo on the roots of the hair around the face to prevent hair from sticking to your forehead.

Go low-tech. If a model gets flushed, the last thing I want to do is cover the redness redness with a heavy makeup. Putting an ice cube or a cool, wet bandanna on the back of the neck works wonders.
